Cystine Properties: The disulfide link is readily reduced to give the corresponding thiol, cysteine. This reaction is typically effected with thiols such as mercaptoethanol or dithiothreitol.

Used :   L-Cysteine is one of building blocks of protein and plays very important roles in the body. The primary role of L-Cysteine is in the production of important antioxidants such as glutathione. In addition, it serves as precursors for synthesis of proteins, glutathione, taurine and coenzyme A. Besides of the application in feed, pet food, function food supplement and pharmaceuticals thanks to its biological function, it is widely used in other industries, such as bakery, flavour, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals, due to its characteristic sulfhydryl group.
