The Benefits of Special Grade Reactive Lime From ZDC

In process of high grade specialty steel making, using of special grade reactive lime to

replace 2nd and 3rd grade lime will bring the following quantitative benefits for the steel

mill:

Reduce the Oxygen lancing time by around 10% (can be treated as improve production rate by

around 10%)

Molten Steel yield will be increased by 1%, with each ton to save 10kg. Assuming, RMB3/kg,

there will be saving of RMB30/mt steel.

Lime usage will be reduced by 20 to 30%. Assuming 50kg CaO/mt Steel, and RMB300/mt CaO, cost

saving for each ton of steel is RMB3/mt steel.

Waste Steel usage will increase by 2.5%.

Fluorspar consumption will be reduced by 25-30%. Assuming RMB600/mt fluorite, there will be

saving of RMB1.5/mt steel

Improve greatly the life span of blast furnace

Improve the de-sulfurisation and phosphorus removal process, increase the effectiveness of

blast furnace temperature control from 60% to 75%, making the automation control of

steelmaking possible.

High alkalinity of slag (CaO/SiO2=3-4.5 special grade reactive lime to produce slag) will

improve the GCR15 bearing steel impurity removal process

Using ZDC reactive lime for super-low carbon stainless steel (300 and 400 series), the

quality and efficiency is high. Carbon will not reverse in reaction.
