Cassava starch processing gradually comes from its traditonal method to now days morden large scale continuous processing, especially in Thailand, cassava starch is one of its main export industry, and become one of the largest cassava starch exporters in the world.
As a whole the cassava starch processing from fresh roots to finished starch usually goes peeling, washing, crushing, extracting, refining, dewatering, drying and packing.
In order to get the targetted qualified starch which will used in different fields, we shall set a strict plan for each section. But in all, for peel, checking and washing plays first key important roles, because better and through washing will reduce very much burden toward following processing sections. Unexpected articles such as metels, wooden pieces, sand once are fed into the following processing procedures, that will bring a series problems. Crushing quality also has the important role for future extracting efficiency, as starch articles are contained in the cell shell, and defected crushing shall leave un-crushed cassava roots pieces into the following extracting units, and finally these pieces will be screwed out with fiber as animal feed. And the starch extracting section and refining section are also key procedures to control the final starch capacity and quality. Starch extracting section determines how much starch firstly is extracted through sieve screen with set mesh size from 80-160 mircometers normally. As for eye seeing the starch milk from the extracting section it looks a little bit light yellow, as there still some soluable protien being contained. To get pure and qualified starch, such milk needs to be washed out for several times just like washing clothes of laundry.
