I. Production Introduction :
Silica fume, also known as micro-silica, (CAS number 69012-64-2, EINECS number 273-761-1, http://comunevillabasilica.com/Products/silica_fume_for_concrete/20141016/25.html) is an amorphous (non-crystalline) polymorph of silicon dioxide, silica. It is an ultrafine powder collected as a by-product of the silicon and ferrosilicon alloy production and consists of spherical particles with an average particle diameter of 150 nm. . The main field of application is as pozzolanic material for high performance concrete ,refractory, rubber, oil paint, etc .
It is sometimes confused with fumed silica (also known as pyrogenic silica, CAS number 112945-52-5). However, the production process, particle characteristics and fields of application of fumed silica are all different from those of silica fume.
II. About us :
Luoyang Jihe Micro-Silica Fume Co., Ltd. is professional in exploiting, producing and selling micro-silica (silica fume). We built up our own producing and processing factories in Shanxi, QingHai and Yunnan Province, and have 3600 tons of production capacity per month. We provide high quality products with low price.
Jihe Micro-silica has a high content of SiO2, and each content target is outstanding with stable quality. It is widely applied to concretes in water conservancy and hydropower, marine anticorrosion construction and refractory material professing, road, bridge and special cement, chemical industry, electron and other industries.
Relying on many years of a good reputation and good service, we have many customers from at home and abroad. We have established long-term and steady business relationship with them. JIHE Micro-silica products are not only selling well in China, but also exported to the United States, Germany, Australia, Asia, and other countries and regions aroundthe world.
JIHE company is willing to take a sincere attitude and enjoy cooperation with you. We are looking forward to establishing relationships with you in the nearfuture.
III. Product Specification :
JIHE Microsilica consists of sub-micron, amorphous , non-porous spheres of silicon dioxide (silica, SiO2) and small agglomerates of these. The average particle size of the spheres is about 0.15 micron. Although some of the spheres exist as single entities, most of them form primary agglomerates with typical particle range 0.1 - 1 micron.
Microsilica also contains some larger, secondary agglomerates typically 5 - 50 micron. They are easily broken down to primary agglomerates when the microsilica is mixed with water.
According to the content index of SiO2 ,we divide our products in to five specification : 85%, 90%,92%, 94% 97%.
All the products are classified as Densified Micro-silica and Undensified Micro-silica .

IV. Applications for Silica Fume:
4.1. Silica fume in Concrete :
High Performance Concrete (HPC) containing silica fume – has been identified as one of the more important advanced materials necessary in the effort to rebuild the nations infrastructure. In addition to increased strength and enhanced durability, HPC produced with silica fume delivers increased toughness; increased resistance to abrasion, corrosion and chemicals; and placement and life-cycle cost efficiencies.
Highway bridges, parking decks, marine structures and bridge deck overlays are subject to constant deterioration caused by rebar corrosion current, abrasion and chemical attack. Silica fume will protect concrete against deicing salts, seawater, road traffic and freeze/thaw cycles. Rebar corrosion activity and concrete deterioration are virtually eliminated, which minimizes maintenance expense. Key benefits include:
l Very low permeability to chloride and water intrusion.
l Extremely high electrical resistivity (20 to 100 times greater than ordinary concrete).
l Increased abrasion resistance on decks, floors, overlays and marine structures.
l Superior resistance to chemical attack from chlorides, acids, nitrates and sulfates.
High-strength concrete enhanced with silica fume – provides architects and engineers with greater design flexibility. Traditionally used in high-rise buildings for the benefit of smaller columns (increasing the usable space) high-strength concrete containing silica fume is often used in precast and prestressed girders allowing longer spans in structural bridge designs. Key advantages include:
l Compressive strengths up to 20,000 psi (140 Mpa)
l High modulus of elasticity exceeding 6 million psi (40,000 Mpa)
l High flexural strengths (2,000 psi @ 28 days) for airport pavements
l High early strengths for fast-track construction projects and precast applications
4.2. Silica fume is used in refractory
Silica fume in refractory enhancing the fluid of pouring refractory, reducing the volume of used water, beeasy to shape, and raising the production efficiency. Because of its untramicrostructure for gap filling, the compact and intensity of refractory gain rising by a wade margin. Silica fume in refractory is a highly effective pozzolanic material, so it's easy to come into being Mullite Phase, under the premise that Al2O3 exists, enhance elevated temperature strength and thermal shock of refractory.
4.3. Function of adding Silica Fume ( Microsilica) :
- Silica fume in refractory is used in unshaped refractories.
- Silica Fume in refractory is used ingunned refractory materials to improves adhesion in castables and minimizes rebound loss.
- Silica fume in refractory is used in shape refractories.
4.4. Silica Fume used in Cement :
Benefits of microsilica
l As an extremely reactive pozzolan,JIHE Microsilica forms additional binder and therefore strengthens the fibre cement product.
l As an ultrafine material, microsilica increases the packing density of the cement matrix.
l The ultra-fine JIHE Microsilica particles form a more refined pore structure, with lower over-all porosity consisting of smaller pores, and thereby enhance the durability of the fibre cement product.
l In the fresh state,JIHE Microsilica aids in binding water and thereby enhances the plasticity of the fresh mix.
l Increases the bending strength of fibre reinforced cement
l Improves the freeze-thaw properties of fibre cement
4.5. Silica Fume in Oil Well Grouting
Whether used for primary (placement of grout as a hydraulic seal in the wellbore) or secondary applications (remedial operations including leak repairs, splits, closing of depleted zones), the addition of silica fume enables a well to achieve full production potential. Besides producing a blocking effect in the oil well grout that prevents gas migration, it provides these advantages:
l Improved flow, for easier, more effective application
l Dramatically decrease permeability, for better control of gas leakage
l Increased durability and compressive strength
4.6. Other Applications for Silica Fume:
1. Chemical plants.
2. Industrial floors subject to high abrasion levels.
3. Dams and spillways for strength and abrasion resistance.
4. Fibre Cement.
5. Shotcrete, for reduced rebound, and improved cohesion/ adhesion
6. Drymix grouts and mortars/ repair concrete.
7. Jobs requiring long pump lines.
8. Watertight basements.
9. Strong activity to form colloidal particles in the water, and adding suitable dispersant to enhance liquidity, thereby improving performance casting.
V. Package :
20-25 kg/ bag or 850-900 kg/ bag (could be according to customers' requirements )
VI. Storage and Transportation
Micro-silica is seal packed by plastic woven bags, during storage and transportation process, please pay attention to waterproof and dampproof .
