Fucoxanthin also be called Fuco. It’s a kind of pigment mainly contained in brown algae, diatoms, chrysophytes and Eustigmatophyte. Reddish-brown crystalline may be produced when it’s separated. Fucoxanthin is a kind of xanthophyl and it is the substance that causes the brown algae to appear brown. Fucoxanthin can be considered as the specific pigment of brown algae, sometimes it can be found in diatoms or other algae.

Characters:

Yellow powder, easy soluble in ethanol, insoluble in water, sensitive to light, should be protected from light.

Application:

Edible pigment, health food as anticancer and diet food, etc.

Pharmaceutical function:

It has Strong anticancer effect.

It is a kind of ideal dietary supplement with a strong antioxidant.

It has obvious effect reducing weight. Fucoxanthin can remove fat in two ways: First, it can activate the UCP1 protein which can promote adipolysis. Second, it can simulate liver to produce DHA which can reduce the cholesterol level.
