Product Description
GE Voluson E8 price & applications
The GE Voluson E8, is a premium 4D ultrasound machine that was the top-of-the-line before the E10 was released. The Voluson E8 is the best selling 4D ultrasound machine in the world even though it is more expensive than it’s competitors. (Voluson E8 price range: approx.$30,000 to $100,000 dollars for an old used system to a brand new one.) All Voluson ultrasound machines specialize in Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Fertility. Secondary applications include General Imaging and Neonatal cardiology. Doctors looking for shared service capabilities from GE should consider the GE Logiq E9 instead. The E8 is the best in the world at providing amazing 4D imaging in any probe and any situation needed, it even offers a rare 4D linear probe.
GE Voluson E8 HD live
HD live is GE’s term for 4D imaging in high definition (HD). The resolution and detail of HD live versus traditional 4D is breathtaking. Think of when you first switched from a regular TV to an HD TV. Since GE launched HD live in 2012 several other manufacturers have created their own versions of HD live, but the Voluson E8 HD live is undoubtedly still the best.
GE Voluson E8 comparison with other ultrasound machines
The E8 is the successor to the Voluson 730 expert, previously the most popular and well-known 4D ultrasound machine. The E8 improves upon the Voluson 730 in every aspect, screen size, resolution, speed, lightweight, and features. The Voluson E8 BT13 and BT12 are great values and if you don’t need HD live (high resolution 4D) then older models like the BT10 are a less expensive option. KPI does not recommend purchasing revisions older than BT10. Both the Voluson E6, and Voluson S8 are slightly less powerful than the Voluson E8. The Voluson E10 is more powerful than the Voluson E8 and the GE Logiq E9 and Samsung WS80A are similar and worth consideration as alternatives to the Voluson E8.
GE Voluson E6 vs E8
The Voluson E6 looks identical to the Voluson E8 in every way from the exterior, except for the nameplate. The E6 is essentially a Voluson E8 with a few features missing and access to fewer probes..and half the channels! Because of these missing channels, the Voluson E6 is actually very close in performance to the newer Voluson S8. For this reason, the Voluson E8 is a much better seller than the E6. So what’s the answer to the Voluson E6 vs E8? The Voluson E8 is worth the extra cost. If the Voluson E8 price is really too expensive for your budget then you should consider the Voluson E6 along with the Voluson S8 and even the Samsung WS80A.

GE Voluson E8 BT10 and older versions
GE first launched the Voluson E8 expert in 2006. That first version was designated as BT06. “BT” is an abbreviation of “Break Through” and the number designates the year in which this version was launched. So the Voluson E8 expert BT08 was launched in 2008 and was in production till the next version in 2009, the Voluson E8 BT09. The BT06 version had many problems with the software and hardware, which the BT08 version fixed. Version BT09 added SonoVCAD heart, Anatomical M-mode, and DICOM as standard features, and STIC, SonoAVC, and Scan Assistant as optional features. BT10 made Scan Assistant and STIC standard features instead of options, and added SonoRender Start, and SonoNT as standard features. Options on the Voluson E8 BT10 were SonoAVC, VOCAL, Advanced VCI and OmniView. The 3SP-D, and RRE5-10 probes were also added to BT10.
GE Voluson E8 BT13, BT12 and newer versions
The Voluson E8 BT12 added a new Dynamic Rendering Engine (new CPU & video card) to support HD live, GE’s high-resolution 4D in HD. The same options as BT10 were options with the Voluson E8 BT12, but BT12 also added support for the new C4-8-D, and RAB6-D 4D probes. The Voluson E8 BT12 really was a “BreakThrough” update! A smaller update came with the Voluson E8 BT13 that added SonoBiometry and Elastography Analysis. The new RIC6-12D is also available on the Voluson E8 BT13.
