Kaplan turbine is suitable for low water head and big flow power plant.

Kaplant turbine are normally arranged in vertical shaft.

Kaplan turbine has relatived lower efficiency and flow variation range, but it is able to hand big flow. It is widely used in run-off-flow power plant.
