Polylactic acid -PLA fiber is a biodegradable as well as recyclable polyester made from renewable feedstock. Lactic acid as the raw material is produced by fermentation of glucose or sucrose and is refined to a high purity. Applications of PLA fiber have been developed as food packaging material, textiles, and recently also as engineering plastics. Basic information is provided on the lactic acid production processes, PLA fiber properties, production process routes, producers, conversion processes, as well as market potential. At the present time, PLA fiber is a niche product but with strong growth potential. Detailed specfications of PLA fiber, short fiber: -1. Denier of shor fiber: - from 0.9D to 1.5D2. Cut length of short fiber: - from 3mm to 10mm3. Applications: (a). Paper making(tea bag/filter paper/tissue/household paper...)(b). Wetlaid nonwoven/paper(c). Airlaid nonwoven/paper (dust-free paper)(d). Concrete application
