Description by Manufacturer

Welded Gabion is made of welded wire mesh panels assembled with spirals, locking pins and stiffener. Each gabion panel is composed of rugged high tensile wire coated by a thick, corrosion-resistant layer of zinc.

Decorative wall fencing specification:
1) Material: Low carbon steel; galvanized steel

2) Gabion basket Length: 1m; 2m; 3m; 4m or as your request.

3) Wire diameter: 4.0mm--6.0mm

4) Spiral wire diameter: 4.5mm--6.5mm

5) Surface treatment:
a. Hot dipped galvanized: galvanized steel wire tensile strength 350-550 mpa/mm2 , zinc contect max up to 350g/m2
b. Galfan coating (Zn-5%Al-MM or Zn-10%Al-MM): steel wire tensile strength 350--550 mpa/mm2 , corrosion resistance is 3 times of galvanized.
c. Hot dipped galvanzied+PVC coated
d. Galfan coating+PVC coated

6) ASTM standard: ASTM A 856; ASTM A 641

Decorative wall fencing feature:
High strength – the use of unweathered within the gabion provide high compressive strength.

Enhanced flexibility – woven steel wire mesh is used for the baskets, allowing movement over expansive soils without failure.

Creates employment opportunities – gabions require a lot of manpower, with little use of machinery required. Unskilled labor from local communities can be used and trained in a short time period.

Low environmental impact – vegetation can be incorporated into the gabion system to cover the gabion or mattress protection in a short time.

High porosity – unlike concrete, gabions don’t require weep-holes for water pressure release behind the retaining walls. They have a 35% pore space volume, allowing free movement of water through the walls, and soil fines movement are blocked with a geotextile filter fabric.

Bomb and earthquake proof – gabion structures can provide protection for bomb shelters and earthquakes, especially when filled with rock and soil due to its high flexibility and strength properties.

Mattress linings – offer vegetation growth and the benefit of microorganisms within the structure to provide food for insects, fish and animals in river situations, unlike the environment created using a solid or segmented concrete lining with little environmental benefits.

Simple – Local labor is used to erect baskets and can be onsite in a short period of time.

Durable – vegetative root growth will enhance the strength of the structure by binding the rocks together and stabilizing it with soil infill in streams.

Economical – suitable rock infill and the use of local labor can be sourced from quarries and communities near the site.
