In February 2022, the Civil Aviation Administration of China officially released the "EHang EH216-S Unmanned Aircraft System Special Conditions," providing a basis for the compliance and safety of the EHang EH216-S unmanned aircraft system. In October 2023, the EHang EH216-S unmanned passenger aircraft system successfully obtained the type certification (Type Certificate, "TC") issued by the Civil Aviation Administration of China, marking that the design of the EH216-S fully meets the safety standards and airworthiness requirements of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, qualifying it for commercial operations. This is also the world's first type certification for an unmanned electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. In December 2023, the EHang EH216-S unmanned passenger aircraft received a standard airworthiness certificate from the Civil Aviation Administration of China, becoming the world's first unmanned electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft to obtain an airworthiness certificate, and successfully completed its first commercial passenger flight demonstration, achieving industry leadership. In April 2024, EHang Intelligence announced the issuance of a production license (Production Certificate, PC) for the EHang EH216-S unmanned passenger aircraft system by the Civil Aviation Administration of China. This is the first production license in the global eVTOL industry, marking that the EH216-S has entered the stage of large-scale production and providing important support for future commercial operations.
