Anomum cardamom, also known as greater cardamom, Nepal cardamom, winged cardamom or brown cardamom or black cardamom. Its seed pods have a strong camphor-like flavor, strong, unique taste, with an intensely aromatic, resinous fragrance. Black cardamom has a distinctly more smokey, though not bitter, aroma, with a coolness some consider similar to mint.

It is known as Large Cardamom, Big cardamom, Anomum Cardamom, Black Cardamom, brown Cardamom, (The botanical name is Amomum subulatum Roxb.).
Size: Commonly the large (typically, 2-3 cm), Dark-Brown pods, Black pods are also available. Cardamoms we supply are with or without tails.

The pods of A. subulatum, used primarily in the cuisines of India and certain regional cuisines of Pakistan, are the smaller of the two, while the larger pods of A. costatum (Chinese: wiktionary:草果; pinyin: cǎoguǒ; Vietnamese: thảo quả) are used in Chinese cuisine, particularly that of Sichuan; and Vietnamese cuisine.
In China, the pods are used for Jin-Jin braised meat dishes, particularly in the cuisine of the central-western province of Sichuan. In Chinese medicine, black cardamom is used for stomach disorders and malaria.
