Bakuchiol is a kind of monoterpene phenolic compound isolated from the seeds of bakuchiol. Its structure is similar to resveratrol and its effect is similar to retinol (vitamin A), but in light In terms of stability, it is better than retinol, and it also has some anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, acne, and whitening effects.

Oil control

Bakuchiol has an effect similar to estrogen, which can inhibit the production of 5-α-reductase, thereby inhibiting sebum secretion, and has the effect of controlling oil.

Anti-oxidation

As a fat-soluble antioxidant stronger than vitamin E, bakuchiol can effectively protect sebum from peroxidation and prevent excessive keratinization of hair follicles.

Antibacterial

Bakuchiol has a good inhibitory effect on bacteria/fungi such as Propionibacterium acnes, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Candida albicans on the skin surface. Moreover, when it is used in combination with salicylic acid, it has a synergistic effect on inhibiting Propionibacterium acnes and has a 1+1>2 acne treatment effect.

Whitening

In the low concentration range, bakuchiol has more inhibitory effect on tyrosinase than arbutin, and is an effective skin whitening agent.

Anti-inflammatory

Bakuchiol can effectively inhibit the activity of cyclooxygenase COX-1, COX-2, the expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase gene, the formation of leukotriene B4 and thromboxane B2, etc., inhibiting inflammation from multiple directions The release of the medium has an anti-inflammatory effect.
