SN-38 (7-Ethyl-10-hydroxycamptothecin) CAS: 86639 52 3 AP：15072 SN-38 is a chemical compound that belongs to the class of camptothecin derivatives. This compound contains several functional groups, including a lactone ring, a carbonyl group, and a tertiary amine group.

The primary mechanism of action of SN-38 is through inhibition of topoisomerase I, an enzyme that plays a critical role in DNA replication and repair. By preventing topoisomerase I from functioning properly, SN-38 disrupts the normal cellular processes and leads to DNA damage and apoptosis (programmed cell death) in cancer cells.

SN-38 has been incorporated into various anti-cancer drug formulations, such as irinotecan and topotecan, and has shown remarkable efficacy in the treatment of various cancers, including colorectal, lung, and ovarian cancers.
