Description by Manufacturer

Sodium metabisulfite is a colorless or slightly yellow crystal. 1. It is solid at room temperature, soluble in water, and weakly acidic. 2. It can absorb moisture and react with sulfur dioxide in the air to form sulfurous acid and sulfuric acid. 3. It has good redox properties and can be oxidized to a mixture of sulfurous acid and sulfuric acid. 1. In the process of making wine and beer, it can remove and inhibit the growth of microorganisms. 2. In the developer and dye industry, it is used for oxidizing dyes, bleaching and decolorization. Sodium metabisulfite can be made by reacting sulfurous acid with alkali.
