Surface set bits are used to drill soft, abrasive, unconsolidated formations where diamond impregnated bits are not drilled effectively. Surface set bits or written as surface-set bits, which are different from impregnated bits while they only have a single layer of natural or synthetic diamonds set onto the working surface of bits, their waterways are usually shallower than an impregnated bit because of the single layer of diamonds.

Standard stepped and semi-round crown profile are available in our products range; face discharged holes are also available to minimize core wash when drilling in soft and fractured formations.

Semi round: Very strong in hard, broken ground, but requiring high bit load to achieve fast penetration.

Stepped: High penetration and stability but fragile in hard, fractured formations.
