The service winch ropes are utilised to suspend the load and are typically of a low rotation multi strand construction this demanding application and environment not only subjects the wire ropes to high levels of fatigue and wear but also in some instances shock loading.

At present, there are many wire rope structures used in rotary drilling rigs in the market. Ordinary round-strand rotation resistance wire ropes mainly include 18×7, 24W×7, and 35W×7; compacted strand rotation resistance wire ropes mainly include 18×K7. , 35W×K7, 15×K7 etc.

In recent years, 35W×K7 type and 15×K7 type steel wire ropes have been applied to rotary drilling rig in relatively large quantities, especially these two types of RHLL & LHLL wire ropes are widely used in the market, accounting for more than 50% .
